Gaumukh to Varanasi Tour

Best Season mid September to end November

This is a journey along mystical river Ganga - from its Source at Gaumukh in Gangotri glacier to world famous exotic city of Varanasi. In a way, Varanasi epitomizes India and its culture which has kept alive for over 5000 years. We see Ganga it its pristine beauty just at its birth till millions dip in it to seek blessings at Varanasi.

01 DELHI
Arrive in Delhi and transfer to the hotel. Sightseeing of Old & New Delhi, visiting, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Shanti Van, Humayun Tomb, India Gate and Qutab Minar.

02 DELHI/MUSSOORIE (1921 m)
Drive 290 km /7 hrs. to Mussoorie via Dehradun. Mussoorie is a popular hill station. Rising as a horse-shoe shaped foot-hill that overlooks on the one side the great plains and on the other side shinning Himalaya.

03 MUSSO0RIE/UTTARKASHI(1138 m)
Drive to Uttarkashi(173 km/ 7hrs). Uttarkashi is a town situated on the bank of Bhagirathi river with some ancient temples. O/N in Simple Hotel.

04 UTTARKASHI/GANGOTRI( 3048 m)
Drive to Gangotri (95 km/5hrs.). On the route stop at hot water spring at Gangnani known for its curative value. In the evening visit to holy temple of Ganga and watch worship in the middle of hundreds of pilgrims with echoing conch cells and bells in the Silent Valley of Gangotri. O/N in Simple Hotel.

05 GANGOTRI/BHOJBAS (3792 m)
Trek to Bhojbasa (14 km/6 hrs). The trek start from Gangotri with an easy ascent. All along the route we enjoy beautiful view of Bhagirathi peaks. As we approach Gaumukh we can see the majestic peak of Shivling. O/N Tents.

06 BHOJBAS/TAPOVAN (4460m)
Trek to Tapovan (4hrs.). En route cross the Gaumukh glacier . Which is situated 4255 m above the sea level . 24 km. in length, the source of holy river Ganga. Tapovan is 4 km. from Gaumukh. It is very steep climb to Tapovan. Situated at the feet of many peaks, Tapovan is well suited as a base camp for mountaineers. O/N Tents.

07 TAPOVAN
Day free at Tapovan to enjoy the glorious view of Shivling , Meru , Bhagirathi, Kedar dome and many other peaks. O/N Tents.

08 TAPOVAN/NANDANVAN
Trek to Nandanvan( 3hrs.). En route we cross Gaumukh glacier. From Nandanvan we have a glorious view of Shivling , Meru. O/N Tents.

09 NANDANVAN/GANGOTRI (3048 m)
Trek to Gangotri (5hrs). Today is an easy trek along right side of Bhagirathi river. O/N in Simple Hotel.

10 GANGOTRI/UTTARKASHI
Drive back to Uttarkashi while still enjoying views of winding Bhagirathi river. O/N Tents.

11 UTTARKASHI/RISHIKESH(340 m)
Drive Rishikesh(148 km/6 hrs.). En route we witness Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers merging together to form a mighty Ganga which is on its 2500 km long journey to Bay of Bengal emptying out in Calcutta.

12 RISHIKESH/DELHI/ALLAHABAD
Drive 225 kms/6 hrs to Delhi. Transfer to Railway station for evening train to Allahabad at 2200 hr. Overnight in Train.

13 ALLAHABAD
Allahabad is one of the most sacred cities of Hinduism and also one of the oldest in India. Allahabad stands at the confluence of two of India's holiest rivers, the Ganga and the Yamuna. The Sangam, as the confluence is called is the Venus of many sacred fairs and rituals, that attract thousands of pilgrims throughout the year. Afternoon half day city tour. O/N at hotel.

14 ALLAHABAD/LAKHIYA
After an early breakfast, start sailing downstream to Sangam, the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna. The water of the rivers are two distinct colours and their meeting point is visible. O/N stay in Tents at the village of Lakhiya.

15 LAKHIYA/USMANPUR
After breakfast continue sailing downstream. One reaching Usmanpur we will visit the nearby village. Overnight stay in tents in the village of Usmanpur.

16 USMANPUR/MARDGHAT
Continue sailing to the small village of Mardghar where we have time to explore the village and the surrounding area. Overnight tents in the village of Mardghat.

17 MARDGHAT/MIRZAPUR
After an early breakfast continue sailing downstream, en route visit Vindhayachal Temple, Chunnar Garh Fort and a near by village to experience rural India life. Then continue sail to Mirzapur, famous for its carpet. Overnight in tents.

18 MIRZAPUR/VARANASI
Early morning visit to carpet factory, then continue sailing downstream to Varanasi. On reaching Varanasi there will be an afternoon excursion to Sarnath, where the Buddha preached his first sermon after gaining enlightenment, Overnight at Hotel.

19 VARANASI/DELHI
A guided morning tour of the city and Ghats. Afternoon transfer to the airport to fly back to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi, transfer to the hotel.

20 DELHI/DEPATURE
Transfer to the international Airport and flight back.
