Spiti - Dharamsala - Amritsar

Best Season July till mid September

In this tour we have a cultural variation. We begin with more than one thousand year old Buddhist monasteries of Spiti. Continue our drive in Himachal which is predominant with Hindu culture.

In Amritsar, we visit Golden Temple which is the holiest Shrine of Sikhs religion which is 600 years old. At the end of the tour we get a deep insight of cultural diversity for which India is known.

01 DELHI
On arrival transfer to hotel. Afternoon sightseeing of Old and New Delhi.

02 DELHI/SHIMLA (2206 m)
Early morning drive 380 km to Shimla, the earlier summer residence of the British Empire. On arrival, late evening, check-in at hotel.

03 SHIMLA
In the morning sightseeing, and afternoon free to walk around local bazaars.

04 SHIMLA/SARAHAN (1920 m)
Drive over 175 km to Sarahan. We are now the whole time in the Sutlej valley, whose source is on the footpath of the Holy Kailas Mountain. In Rampur (924 m) we will stop to see the Palace Temple. Overnight in hotel.

05 SARAHAN/SANGLA (2680 m)
Drive 90 kms to the beautiful Sangla valley. Afternoon we have time to see Chitkul, an original Kinnauri village. Kamru is a relict of olden times with picturesque towers, from the 14th century. Overnight in tents.

06 SANGLA/SPELLO (2244 m)
Drive to Spello via Kalpa (2960 m), above Recong Peo, which was the former capital. A magnificent view from Kalpa to Kinner Kailas. Overnight in tents.

07 SPELLO/NAKO/CHANGO
Drive to the tiny village of Nako, which is situated on a gentle hill in a small plane. The monastery is not very easy to find, but in the main temple is the godhead Vairocana. Back to the main road further to Chango, our camp place.

08 CHANGO/TABO/SICHLING
Drive to Tabo and visit the Tabo monastery (3050 m), the most important in Spiti valley. It is more than 1'000 years old. Further drive to Sichling overnight in tents for 2 nights.

09 SICHLING/KAZA
Today we visit Dankhar Gompa, built on a cliff. Later drive to Lha Lun, second jewel of Spiti. Overnight in Guest House/Tents.

10 KAZA
We visit Kibber village (4205 m), the highest village with a road and electricity. Later we go to Kye monastery on a small hill. Perhaps we can join a ceremony in the monastery.

11 KAZA/CHHOTA DARA
Drive over Kunzam Pass (4551 m) to Chhota Dara our camp place for the night.

12 CHHOTA DARA/UDEYPUR
Drive to Udeypur, the famous Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage centre. On the way we will see Gondlah (3160 m) and Tandi (2573 m). Overnight in tents or Guesthouse.

13 UDEYPUR/KEYLONG (3350 m)
Drive to Keylong, but on the way we will visit Triloknath, a Shiva Temple. Keylong is the former home of Moravians. Overnight in simple Guesthouse.

14 KEYLONG/MANALI
Drive to the queen of the hill stations, Manali over Rotang Pass (3913 m). Overnight in hotel.

15 MANALI/DHARAMSALA
Drive to Dharamsala via Mandi. Overnight in Hotel.

16 DHARAMSALA
His Holiness The Dalai Lama lives here. We visit monasteries and Mcleod Ganj where Dalai has his residence.

17 DHARAMSALA/DALHOUSIE
Drive to another hill station of Himachal Pradesh from where you have an excellent view of Dhauladhar range of mountains.

18 DALHOUSIE/AMRITSAR
Today we drive to Amritsar, the holiest shrines of Sikhs.

19 AMRITSAR/DELHI
In the morning we visit Golden Temple, the Sikh shrine and fly in the afternoon to Delhi.

20 DELHI/DEPARTURE
Transfer to the international Airport and flight back.
