BEST SEASON FEB - APRIL AND SEPTEMBER- NOVEMBER
In this tour we visit Darjeeling, famous for its tea gardens, toy train. Continue to Sikkim, the land of Kanchenjunga, which is the third highest peak of the world (8585 m) and Rumtek Monastery known for its Lama School. From Sikkim we continue our journey to yet another beautiful landscape of Bhutan.
01 DELHI
Arrival and city sightseeing. O/N hotel.
02 DELHI/BAGDOGRA/DARJEELING (2134 m)
Early morning flight to Bagdogra, drive 90 km/4 hr to Darjeeling through Tea Plantations. O/N hotel.
03 DARJEELING
Very early morning drive to Tiger Hill (2590 m), about 11 km to watch Sun rise on Mt Kanchenjunga (8585 m) - the third highest mountain of the world. Later on during the day we visit Bhutia Busty Monastery, Observatory Hill, Zoological Park which is the only place in India having its collection of Siberian tigers, Botanical Garden with rare Himalayan plants, flowers and orchids, Ghoom Monastery and Toy Train ride.
04 DARJEELING/PEMAYANGTSE
Drive to Pemayangtse (2085 m) 130 km/4 hr. There is an excellent view of Mt Pandim (6691 m) and Mt Kanchenjunga from here. Pemayangtse monastery was founded in 1705 century. O/N simple hotel/guest house.
05 PEMAYANGTSE/GANGTOK (1600m)
We drive 140 km/6 hr to the Capital of Sikkim - Gangtok (1600m). En route we visit Tashiding monastery founded in 1716 century, perched atop a conical hill between Rangit and Ratong rivers. Continue our drive to Gangtok.
06 GANGTOK
In the morning we visit Rumtek Monastery. Rumtek has a large monastic school for monks, the order of the Monastery was founded in 11th Century, building is not so old but quite impressive. In the afternoon we visit Orchadium and Lal Bazaar in Gangtok.
07 GANGTOK/LACHUNG (2700m)
Today we drive 120 km/6 hr to North Sikkim, an area which is scenically beautiful and has been opened for the tourists just 3-4 years back. En route we visit Phodong Monastery built by Chogyal Gyurmed Namgyal somewhere in the first quarter of 18th century. Overnight in Lodge/simple hotel.
08 LACHUNG/YUMTHANG/LACHUNG
Drive 24 km to visit Yumthang valley which is quite wide with snow capped mountains. During March/April specially it is full with rhododendron flowers. We will make some excursion in this picturesque valley. O/N drive back to Lachung.
09 LACHUNG/GANGTOK
Drive back. O/N hotel.
10 GANGTOK/RUMTEK/KALIMPONG
We do some other sight seeing of Gangtok in the morning, drive 24 km to Rumtek on the other side of Ranipul valley. Rumtek has a large monastic school for monks, the order of the Monastery was founded in 11th century, building is not so old but quite impressive. Drive on to Kalimpong 76 km/3 hr. Visit monastery and curricular centre where silk worms are bred and silk is produced O/N hotel.
11 KALIMPONG/PHUNTSHOLING
Drive to Phuntsholing, the Bhutanese border 140/ 5 hr km. Our Bhutan agent will take over after the passport formalities at the border. O/N Druk hotel.
12 PHUNTSHOLING/THIMPU
Drive 175 km/6 hr. Lunch at Bunakha Cafeteria. O/N Hotel Taksang or similar.
13 THIMPU
Morning visit the memorial stupa of the late king, built in 1974, indigenous hospital, where traditional medicine is still practised. Later on we visit painting school, where children learn ancient art of painting, and Handicraft Emporium.
14 THIMPU/PUNAKHA/THIMPU
Day excursion to Punakha/70 km via Ducha La (pass)/3050 m. On a clear day we can have superb view of high peaks of Bhutan. Punakha is the old capital of Bhutan and present winter capital for Monk body. After viewing the Dzong enjoy picnic lunch and drive to Wangdi Phodrang to see the Dzong (Monastery). Drive back to Thimpu
15 THIMPU/PARO
Morning drive to Paro 54 km/2 hr. En route visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest in Bhutan built in 1627. Visit Ta Dzong built in 17th century, Taksang Monastery (Tiger's Nest) and Paro town, Paro Dzong (view only). O/N Paro.
16 PARO/DELHI
17 DELHI/AGRA
Drive 220 km/ 5 hr to Agra. Visit world famous Taj Mahal built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz. En route we also visit Sikandara Fort.
18 AGRA/JAIPUR
Drive 240 km / 5 hr. En route visit Fatehpur Sikri and Amber Fort on Elephant back.
19 JAIPUR/DELHI
Morning sightseeing of Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Observatory. Afternoon drive back to Delhi, 260 km / 5 hr. Transfer to International airport for onward connection.
20 DELHI/DEPARTURE
Flight back home.
