Sikkim - Land of Kanchenjunga

Best Season mid March till mid May and mid Sept till October

Sikkim, in the North East is one of the smaller States of India. Presided by the majestic beauty of Mt Kanchenjunga (8585 m) Sikkim is also famous for Rumtek Monastery. We also visit Darjeeling, world famous for its tea.

01 DELHI
Arrival and combined sightseeing of the city.

02 DEL/BAGDOGRA/DARJEELING (2150 m)
Flt to Bagdogra. Drive 4 hr to Darjeeling. Overnight in Hotel.

03 DARJEELING
Sightseeing of Tiger Hill, Ghoom Monastery, Toy Train. Afternoon acclimatisation walk.

04 DARJEELING/PEMAYANGTSE/YUKSOM (2000 m)
Drive to Pemayangtse Monastery (2085 m) and further drive to Yuksom. O/N Tent.

05 YUKSOM/TSOKHA (3050 M)
Trek starts amidst the forests of Rhododendrons. 7-8 hr trek. O/N Tent.

06 TSOKHA/DZONGRI (4030 m)
Today we go up to Dzongri, midway we have excellent view of the mountains and valley on the other side. On a clear day we can even see Kanchenjunga from here. 5-6 hr trek.

07 DZONGRI/THANGSING (3800 m)
Again we trek through forest of rhododendron. Camp at the bank of river Prek Chu for the night camp. 5 hr.

08 THANGSING/SAMITI LAKE (4150 m)
We go up to Samiti Lake from where we have an excellent view of Mount Pandim below which we have our camp near the Lake. 4 hr trek.

09 SAMITI LAKE/GOCHA LA/THANGSING
Today is the hardest day to go to Gocha La (5000 m) from where we have a beautiful view of Kanchenjunga and other 7000 meter mountains. Come back to Thangsing.

10-12 THANGSING/DZONGRI/TSOKHA/YUKSOM
Return trek.

13-14 YUKSOM/TASHIDING/GANGTOK
Drive to Tashiding, visit the monastery, further drive to Gangtok. On day 14 sightseeing of Gangtok town.

15 GANGTOK/RUMTEK/GANGTOK
Sightseeing of Rumtek Monastery. Afternoon free.

16-18 GANGTOK/LACHUNG/YUMATHANG/GANGTOK
Excursion to North Sikkim by jeep.

19 GANGTOK/KALIMPONG
Drive to Kalimpong. Visit monastery and local bazaar.

20 KALIMPONG/BAGDOGRA/DELHI
Drive to Bagdogra. Flight to Delhi. Rest of the day Free.

21 DELHI/DEPARTURE
Transfer to international airport.
